At our Mid-South Culinary Academy we offer a variety of culinary classes for the beginner or recreational cook. These classes are designed to meet a variety of needs.
Themed Cooking Classes
Guest chefs from across the country are invited in to teach a wide variety of classes. A few of our upcoming favorites are:
Cajun Cooking from A-Z
Taught by Chef Philip Plaisance from the famous Ox Bow Restaurant in St. Francisville, Louisiana and Chef Tip Pace from Feliciana Seafood and Catering in St. Francisville. This is an intensive course the begins with the basic of making your own roux through creating famous dishes such as Oysters Bienville, Jambalaya, Chicken and Seafood Gumbo, New Orleans Bread Pudding, Etoufee and much more.
Holiday Hors D’Oeuvres and Entertaining
Taught by Chef Antonio Taylor and Miguel Palmieri of First Choice Catering and John Woods, Owner of First Choice Catering and the Mid-South Culinary Academy. Our Chef’s will teach you to create mouth-watering appetizers for your next holiday party as well as how to prepare beautiful garnishments that will enhance your next culinary creation.
Cooking for Kids
"Cooking for Kids" is an action and fun filled 3 hour course that starts out teaching kids (ages 12-17) basic kitchen skills and progresses into preparing simple and delicious dishes that can be prepared at home and assembled into a full meal. Parental participation is encouraged.
A Culinary Night Out
Our culinary staff can assist you in customizing a course for a girls, guys or couples night out that includes hands-on cooking with fine dining.
